Peak dates for big redfish and other productive months sometimes book quickly, so anyone planning on booking a trip should do so as early as possible to secure the date desired.
Top months for big redfish and black drum are December through May in the lagoon, and June through November in the inlet and nearshore. Juvenile reds up to 8lbs and trout are available year-round, with the winter months being particularly productive. Cobia is a limited season in spring and is dependent on temperatures and weather patterns. Nearshore fishing can be good all summer for most of the targeted species. One thing is for sure, regardless what time of year you book your trip, Capt. Billy will have you catching something good!
What to Bring
Capt. Billy provides all licenses, tackle, photography and equipment you need. Water will be provided, but if you want to bring lunch, some snacks, or drinks of your own, you are more than welcome to. Do not worry about bringing a cooler, Capt. Billy has a 65q Yeti that can fit anything you may bring. If you wish to use your own tackle, please contact Capt. Billy to see if it is appropriate for the type of fishing you will be doing on your trip.
The must-have equipment is a hat and your favorite pair of polarized glasses. These two items are essential for sight fishing so if you do not have any, Capt. Billy will provide them for you. In the summer months, wear light, sun protective clothing. Capt. Billy does provide rain gear in case of a sudden shower. In the winter months, dress in layers and wear a good wind breaker. It usually warms up in the afternoon, even in the winter, but mornings can be chilly!
