June fishing continues to be great! Despite some cloudy and rainy days, June is shaping up to be an amazing fishing month in Mosquito Lagoon and Ponce Inlet. We have landed a couple dozen huge reds this past week alone with some tarpon and sea trout.
Big bull redfish have been the main focus of our inshore trips and have been really spectacular recently. These fish can challenge anyone from the skilled fly fisherman to the novice angler. The highlight of this past week was a couple of these fish on fly and also twin 11 year olds from Pennsylvania landing two 30lb fish each like they were pros! Tarpon have been fun when nearshore conditions allow access but we have also been catching tarpon inshore around New Smyrna Beach as well. These fish never get old and whether they’re 10lbs or 100lbs they are just thrilling to catch. Water clarity in Mosquito Lagoon is the best it’s been in many years and the sight fishing has been good on sunny days. Weather patterns should stabilize as we head into our mid summer lull before Hurricane season kicks off, allowing both great nearshore and flats sight fishing days. Capt.
